A Community Afternoon in Thaxted, Essex

On Friday 8th August 2025, I had the absolute pleasure of photographing pets and their families at a free pop-up event hosted by Thaxted Pet Co. at Thaxted Church Hall, Thaxted, Essex. As the photographer behind Yellow Blossom Photography (based in Haverhill, Suffolk), I specialise in capturing meaningful portraits of pets, children, and families across Essex, Suffolk and Cambridgeshire — and this event was the perfect opportunity to do just that!

The afternoon was full of laughter, wagging tails, and community spirit. Dogs of all shapes and sizes came along for professional portraits, while owners enjoyed watching their pups take part in enrichment activities and fun games.


Pet Pop-Up Photography by Yellow Blossom Photography

At Yellow Blossom Photography, I know how important pets are — they’re part of the family. The pop-up session allowed me to:

  • Capture professional photos of local dogs in Thaxted.
  • Offer families a chance to take home timeless portraits of their beloved pets.
  • Showcase how fun, quick sessions can still produce beautiful, high-quality images.

Each image reflected the dogs’ personalities, whether they were lively, calm, cheeky, or camera-shy.


Why Thaxted, Essex Was the Perfect Setting

Thaxted is one of Essex’s most picturesque towns, with landmarks such as the Parish Church of St John the Baptist (often called the Cathedral of Essex), the historic Guildhall, and the charming streets that make it such a wonderful backdrop for community events. Hosting the photoshoot at Thaxted Church Hall made it easy for local families and pet owners from Essex, Suffolk, and nearby Cambridgeshire villages to come along and join in.

Partnering with Thaxted Pet Co. for this free event meant that alongside photography, families could enjoy:

  • Dog enrichment activities
  • Interactive games to keep pets stimulated
  • A relaxed and welcoming environment to meet fellow dog lovers

It was lovely seeing so many familiar faces from the local area as well as new ones who discovered my work for the first time.
