What Happens If It Rains or Someone Gets Sick?
Life happens — and sometimes it happens right before your photography session. Whether it’s an unexpected downpour, a poorly little one, or something far more heartbreaking, it’s natural to wonder what will happen to your booking.
At Yellow Blossom Photography in Haverhill, Suffolk, my priority is making sure your experience is relaxed, enjoyable, and handled with compassion. That means being flexible when things don’t go to plan and always putting people before policies.
Outdoor Sessions – When the Weather Turns
If you’ve booked an outdoor maternity, family, or milestone session, the weather can be unpredictable (especially here in the UK!).
Here’s how I handle it:
- Check the forecast in advance – I’ll keep an eye on the weather leading up to your session.
- Make a joint decision – If it looks like heavy rain, we’ll decide together whether to go ahead, reschedule, or move indoors.
- Backup indoor option – Where possible, we can switch to a studio session in Haverhill.
Tip: A light drizzle can sometimes be beautiful in photos — but if the weather will make you uncomfortable or limit the images we can capture, we’ll reschedule.
Illness – Especially for Newborns & Young Children
Your health (and your family’s health) is always more important than sticking to the original date.
- If you or your child is unwell, please let me know as soon as possible so we can arrange a new date.
- For newborn sessions, I’ll always prioritise baby’s comfort and safety — a poorly baby or recovering mum is a clear sign to postpone.
- There’s no extra charge for rescheduling due to illness when you give me notice.
Loss of a Baby Before a Booked Maternity or Newborn Session
Sadly, sometimes life takes a devastating turn. If you suffer the loss of your baby before a booked maternity or newborn session, you will receive a full refund — no questions asked.
Your wellbeing will always come first, and I will never expect you to attend a session during such a deeply personal and difficult time. If and when you feel ready in the future, you are always welcome to come back for a different type of session, and I’ll honour any previous special offer or discount you had.
Why Rescheduling (or Cancelling) Can Be a Good Thing
- It ensures everyone is at their best — happy, comfortable, and able to enjoy the experience.
- It means we can still capture your vision without compromising on quality.
- For newborns, it keeps the session calm and safe, avoiding unnecessary stress.
- In cases of loss, it gives you the space and time you need without financial worry.
How to Reschedule or Cancel
Simply contact me via email, phone (lisa@yellowblossomphotography.co.uk | 07845 957035) as soon as you know there’s an issue. We’ll look at the next available dates — or arrange your refund in the case of a loss — with absolutely no pressure or obligation.
📅 Booking Tip: If you’re booking a session during peak times (spring, summer, and just before Christmas), I recommend booking early and allowing a little flexibility for reschedules.
In Summary
- Outdoor session + heavy rain = Reschedule or move to studio
- Illness in family = Reschedule at no extra cost
- Loss before maternity or newborn session = Full refund, no questions asked
- Goal = Keep your session stress-free, safe, and compassionate
