As a Haverhill, Suffolk photographer specialising in newborn, maternity, family and cake smash sessions, I thought it was about time I shared a little behind-the-scenes secret. For the very first time, I’m showing you a before and after image from one of my sessions — because photography is so much more than simply pressing a button.

📸 The “Before” – Straight Out of Camera (SOOC)

When I take your photo in the studio, the image that comes out of the camera already holds the emotion, the pose, and the memory. But it isn’t finished. Just like a raw gemstone, it needs polishing.

The “before” a.k.a RAW image is:

Beautiful, but flat in colour
Shows every tiny distraction (scratches, redness, background details)
Lacking the colours & definition that makes my style so recognisable

This is where the magic happens. Every image you receive in your gallery has been lovingly hand-edited by me. This can often take as long as the photoshoot itself, but the results are worth every second.
